A Special Visit to Kirillawela Primary School in Kadawatha

While visiting Sri Lanka in July 2026, Riveen had the opportunity to visit Kirillawela Primary School in Kadawatha and donate several boxes of English-language books to the school library.

Riveen, along with his friend Risandi, joined the students and teachers for the school’s morning assembly. They had the opportunity to speak with the students about the importance of reading and learning English and share a little about the work of Books 4 Bright Futures.

After the assembly, Riveen and Risandi visited the school library and spent time reading books with the students. It was wonderful to see the children’s excitement as they looked through the books and listened to the stories. The students and teachers gave them a very warm welcome and made the visit especially memorable.

We would like to extend a special thank you to the Mrs. Ranasinghe Principal of Kirillawela Primary School and Teacher Mrs. Kumari Somarathne for organizing the visit and welcoming Books 4 Bright Futures to the school. Their support and commitment to their students made the day possible.

The school also welcomed Riveen and Risandi with a traditional Sri Lankan breakfast, which was a very thoughtful and memorable part of the visit.

Being able to personally meet the students who will be using the books is one of the most meaningful parts of the work we do. We are grateful to Kirillawela Primary School for welcoming us and look forward to supporting more students and school libraries in the future.
